Canelo Álvarez Pulls Out a Unanimous Decision Victory Over Gennadiy Golovkin

The Trilogy Comes to an End with GGG Falling Short

Canelo Overcomes a Slow Start to Secure the Win

In a highly anticipated trilogy fight, Saúl Álvarez, known as Canelo, defeated Gennadiy Golovkin, nicknamed GGG, via unanimous decision Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Despite starting slowly, Canelo turned up the heat in the middle rounds, landing several hard shots and controlling the pace of the fight. GGG showed his toughness by absorbing the punishment and landing some big shots of his own, but it wasn't enough to overcome Canelo's sustained attack.

The judges' scorecards reflected the dominance of Canelo, with two judges scoring the fight 115-113 and the third judge scoring it 116-112. The victory improves Canelo's record to 58-2-2 while GGG drops to 42-2-1.

This trilogy fight was highly anticipated after the first two fights were close and controversial. In the first fight, which took place in 2017, the fight was ruled a draw, while in the second fight, which took place in 2018, Canelo won a majority decision.
