Bayer Leverkusen Claims 2-0 First-Leg Victory Over Roma

Leverkusen Takes Command in Europa League

Goals by Wirtz and Andrich hand visitors the advantage

Bayer Leverkusen secured a significant 2-0 victory over AS Roma in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League semi-final on Thursday.

Florian Wirtz opened the scoring for the visitors in the 25th minute, firing home a deflected shot from the edge of the area. Robert Andrich doubled Leverkusen's lead just before halftime with a close-range header following a corner.

Roma struggled to create clear-cut chances throughout the match, with Leverkusen's defense remaining resolute. The Italian side's best opportunity came in the second half when Nicolò Zaniolo forced a good save from Lukas Hradecky.

The result puts Leverkusen in a strong position heading into the second leg at home next week. The German club will be confident of reaching the final, while Roma face an uphill battle to overturn the deficit.
